To our Wildcat Families,
It is unfortunate news that we bring to you this evening: Superintendent Henderson Lewis is recommending that Crocker not be renewed beyond the 2020-2021 school year.
We have informed our NOCP Board members of this decision and want to bring this to your attention for several reasons. First, we want you to know that NOLA PS' decision is only a recommendation to the Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB). The OPSB will meet on December 17th to decide whether or not to uphold the administration's decision for non-renewal, and you can be assured that members of our CMO team, other administrators, and anyone who desires to submit comments or speak will be present to make sure the OPSB members have accurate information.
Secondly, the CMO team and Ms. J'Vann Martin, our Crocker principal, are shocked by this decision given the fact that Crocker's tremendous academic growth metrics in 2019-2020, our financial health, and other measures of the renewal process have been outstanding and have never been refuted by the NOLA PS administration.
We will certainly do everything possible to refute this recommendation. In addition, we are proud to say that our NOCP Board members will be engaged in refuting this recommendation as well.
We want to express how absolutely proud we are of our Crocker teachers, staff and administration and the work that they have done that has yielded documentable and significant growth. We will move on to focus on the Dec 17th meeting of the OPSB and hope for more reasonable minds to prevail as they review our data in an objective manner.
Please stay strong, stay safe. Our power is in our pride, and we will be providing ways for our community to contact board members to deliver comments at the upcoming meeting.
